Arranging a funeral at Worthing Crematorium can bring difficult challenges during an emotional time.

Managing the overall cost of the funeral

With some local Worthing funeral directors charging over £3,000 for their services and the coffin alone, the total cost of a funeral can quickly escalate once disbursements are added, making it financially overwhelming for families.

Ensuring the funeral reflects your loved ones' wishes and values

If the deceased didn’t leave specific instructions, it can be difficult for family members to make decisions about the type of funeral, whether to opt for cremation or burial, and how to incorporate any special requests, which can add to the emotional burden.

Coordinating the timing and logistics of the service

Aligning the availability of Worthing Crematorium, the celebrant, and the venue for refreshments, along with managing family schedules and the funeral procession, requires precise coordination. This, combined with handling legal paperwork, organising vendors for flowers, catering, and drinks, writing an obituary, and overseeing charitable donations, makes the planning process both emotionally taxing and logistically complex.

Choosing the right music, readings, photos and eulogies for a meaningful ceremony

Planning a meaningful funeral involves several key tasks, from honouring the deceased’s personality and selecting the right celebrant or spiritual leader to crafting a heartfelt eulogy. It also includes choosing photos for a slideshow set to music, selecting appropriate songs, agreeing on the order of service, and designing and printing service sheets, all of which require careful thought and attention to detail.

Let us smooth the path & deal with every issue for you with the absolute minimum of fuss.

Managing the overall cost of the funeral

Our professional fee for an attended service at Worthing Crematorium, including a coffin, is £1,695—less than half the price charged by some local Worthing funeral directors. Most of our clients find their total funeral costs, including disbursements, come to around £3,000, making the process more affordable and easing the financial burden on families.

Ensuring the funeral reflects your loved ones' wishes and values

If the deceased didn’t leave specific instructions, we can ease the emotional burden and create a meaningful service by:

  • Engaging your family in sensitive discussions about your loved one’s personality and values to guide your decisions.

  • Offering flexible cremation and ceremony options that reflect the individual’s character.

  • Assisting with personal touches, like favourite music or readings, to honour the deceased.

  • Encouraging open communication among family members to reach agreement and reduce stress.

  • Providing expert guidance and suggestions to help your family make thoughtful choices without pressure.

Coordinating the timing and logistics of the service

We can ease the burden on you and your family by:

  • Acting as the main point of contact for Worthing Crematorium, the celebrant, and wake venue, to find times that suit everyone.

  • Handling all legal paperwork promptly.

  • Organising third-party vendors for flowers, the wake, catering and drinks to ensure everything runs smoothly.

  • Assisting with the obituary, charitable donations, and other details so you can focus on grieving.

  • Keeping you updated on progress and any issues, ensuring everything goes as planned.

Choosing the right music, readings, photos and eulogies for a meaningful ceremony

We strive to create a meaningful and respectful ceremony by:

  • Meeting with your family to understand your loved one's personality and guiding you in selecting suitable music and readings.

  • Arranging an appropriate celebrant or working closely with your chosen spiritual leader to help you craft a heartfelt eulogy that resonates emotionally.

  • Assisting with selecting photos and creating a respectful slideshow paired with fitting music for the service.

  • Structuring the order of service and collaborating with you to design and print the necessary service sheets.

  • Ensuring that every detail, from music to readings, is carefully timed and coordinated for a seamless ceremony.

What are the restrictions at Worthing
Crematorium?

  • Chapel Time and Fees
At Worthing Crematorium, each service is allocated a 40-minute time slot. This includes the arrival, seating, and departure of mourners. If a ceremony exceeds the allocated time, the crematorium may impose an additional fee of up to £360.

  • We are committed to helping you plan a service that fits comfortably within this timeframe. For larger gatherings or ceremonies with additional elements, such as multiple speakers or extra music tributes, we may recommend booking a double time slot. This ensures ample time to honour your loved one without feeling rushed or incurring extra fees.

  • Let us know your specific needs, and we’ll guide you in creating a fitting tribute that balances timing and personal touches.

  • Coffin Requirements
To guarantee environmental safety and respectful cremation, coffins must meet the standards set by the Funeral Furnishing Manufacturers Association (FFMA). If you’re considering crafting a bespoke coffin, please discuss this with us in advance. We’ll guide you through the necessary requirements to ensure it adheres to crematorium policies.

  • Music and Media Services
The crematorium offers customisable options for music and media, including webcasting services for those unable to attend in person. If you wish to include a personal slideshow, home-recorded music, or a video as part of the ceremony, let us know. We’ll assist in preparing and coordinating these elements to ensure they are compatible with the crematorium’s systems.

  • Restrictions on Coffin Contents
For safety, respect, and environmental compliance, there are restrictions on items that can be placed inside a coffin. Prohibited items include:

  • Non-combustible materials: Metals, glass, and certain plastics.

  • Hazardous items: Batteries and electronic devices (e.g., mobile phones, watches) due to explosion risks.

  • Environmentally harmful materials: Synthetic fabrics, treated woods, and heavily varnished surfaces.
We’re here to provide guidance on what can be included to honour your loved one appropriately. Please reach out to us with any questions or specific requests.

Be proud of giving your loved one exactly the funeral they wanted.

Get amazing support with a wonderful compassionate service from start to finish.
